In the mid-1950s, father and son Bert and Loyal Weed started Weed and Sons Septic Tank Cleaning, also known as “Weedy’s Septic Tank Cleaning”. In 1975, Loyal’s second-oldest son Rick started Weed Excavating and began installing septic systems, with his wife Susie managing the office. As the demand for septic tank cleaning increased, they bought a truck and began pumping tanks. Eventually, they got out of the excavation side of the business in order to focus exclusively on sewer and drain services. Today, Weed, Inc. is Kosciusko County's leading sewer and drain cleaning company, specializing in residential, commercial, industrial, and municipal wastewater solutions.
We continue to be a family-owned and operated business, and nearly half of our employees are members of the Weed family. When Rick and Susie decided to retire fully in 2017, their oldest daughter and son-in-law took over the day-to-day operations of the company. Their youngest daughter also works in the office, another son-in-law is the shop and equipment manager, and a grandson is now a fifth-generation Weed to work in the business. We are proud of the longevity of our company and hope to continue the legacy for many generations to come.
